Relay For Life

On the Friday of April 17th to Saturday, April 18th, the brothers of Sigma Nu took part in the campus wide fundraiser, Relay For Life. Put on by the American Cancer Society, the relay is a nationwide effort to raise money for cancer research.
The relay started up on northside at the Bill Sudeck track at 6 pm that Friday. Things were off to a strong start with the track being packed full of people from all around the campus. Around the periphery of the track, people were selling various back goods and other snacks to help boost their fund raising. Along with the sisters of Delta Gamma, the men of Sigma Nu sold rootbeer floats late into the night.
The atmosphere of the relay was a combination of block party, tailgating, and sleepover, all wrapped into one night. Although energy waned as the night rolled on and morning came, the activity on the track still persisted. Finally, the clock reached noon of the next day, and the relay was finished. Sigma Nu raised over $1000 dollars and as a team walked over 86 miles in a course of 24 hours. The entire event was a great success, thanks to the help of recent alumni, Alex Hamberger and his leadership efforts. Overall, the school raised a little over $88,000 dollars for the American Cancer Society

Greek Week Comes to a Successful End

Greek Week 2009 is finally over. After great showings in Spot Shot, Beach Ball Relay, Raft Race, Egg Toss, Pyramid, and Rope Pull, the brothers of Sigma Nu ended up placing 2nd overall.

The brothers ended up placing 1st in Pyramid as well as 1st in the noncompetitive bracket for Rope Pull.

In addition to our 2nd place finish, Sigma Nu was honored with the Sportsmanship Award.

Congratulations Delta Alpha for representing Sigma Nu so well.

Greek Week Update!

We are well underway into Greek Week now, having already completed Sing, Banner, and Variety Show. Yesterday evening, April 1, the brothers sang their hearts out to the tune of Ben Fold's "Rockin' the Suburbs" with their own rendition titled "Addicted to Nicktoons." Despite audience approval, Sigma Nu did not place in the event.

However, today and tonight, April 2, banner and variety were held. Early this morning, brothers moved our enormous banner, which was a smaller-sized Case version of the show "Legends of the Hidden Temple," complete with lasers, academics, and the famous "Silver Spartan." We learned tonight that we placed first in this event.

Tonight, Sigma Nu proudly presented a dating show with cartoons and ended with a fantastic dance that incorporated many of the brothers. Sigma Nu placed second in Variety Show and our spirits are high.

Look forward to more updates!

IM Hockey Game 4

Tonight was Sigma Nu's fourth game of intramural hockey. We played Delta Tau Delta Team B. After holding a lead almost the entire game, Sigma Nu was unable to keep Delt from tying the score to 8-8, leading to a shoot-out. Unfortunately, a nice shot by one of the Delts ended the game with a 9-8 loss for Sigma Nu. Candidate Andy Leveto had two goals and both Brother Paul Anderko and Brother Brad DuBose scored hat tricks.
